Two Days workshop for Aspiring Children Book Writers by award winning German and Indian Children Book Authors.


All you creative and aspiring children book writers, it is time to pack your pens and notepads and be a part of the creative workshop and hear from the award winning German and Indian Children book authors like Boris Pfeiffer, Nagesh Hegde, Rohini Nilekani,  Vaidehi, T.S.Nagaraja Setty, Adithi Rao and Kiran Prasad Rajanahalli  on the art of creative writing.
Conceptualised and presented by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, Bangalore in association with the Department of Public Libraries, Government of Karnataka and Library and Information Science Academy (LISA) Bangalore, the workshop aims at capacity building initiative to create a pool of native budding writers and train them to write children books with a native flavour.
Workshop include Interactive sessions, master classes, panel discussions and book exhibition. Participate and hone your writing skills and rest assured will be an experience for a lifetime.

About Authors:

Rohini Nilekani
Rohini Nilekani is Founder-Chairperson, Arghyam, a foundation she endowed to fund initiatives for sustainable water and sanitation across India. From 2004 to 2014, she was Founder-Chairperson of Pratham Books, a non-profit children’s publisher. She is Co-founder-Director of EkStep, a non-profit education platform.
A former journalist writing for leading publications, she is also the author of “Stillborn” and “Uncommon Ground”, both published by Penguin Books India. In 2017, she was inducted as Foreign Honorary Member of the AmericanAcademy of Arts and Sciences.
As signatories of the Giving Pledge, Rohini and Nandan Nilekani have committed half their wealth to philanthropy.
 
Boris Pfeiffer
Born 1964 in Berlin, is a German writer of children's books, theater plays and poetry.As a child Boris Pfeiffer narrated his stories to the asphalt strip in front of the car window during long journeys with his parents.
Before starting out as a writer, he was a theatre director and scriptwriter. His books include "Kira und Buttermilch", "Unsichtbar und trotzdem da!“,the popular series The Wild Pack, featuring a very sophisticated chameleon, a gorilla with a big heart and existentialist wolf. His books have been widely translated and he wishes to be able to continue writing as freely as possible.
 
Nagesh Hegde
Nagesh Hegde has obtained two Master Degrees, one from IIT Kharagpur and another from JNU New Delhi. He was a lecturer in Environmental Geology at Nainital before joining Prajavani, a popular daily in Karnataka . As a journalist in Bengaluru he has bagged all the top awards in journalism, environment, science and literature in Karnataka. Recently he has been nominated for the ‘TSR Award’, topmost honor for journalism given by the government of Karnataka.Last week he was honoured with Big Little Book Award in Mumbai by Tata-Parag initiative for his contribution to children’s literature.
 
Vaidehi (Janaki Srinivasa Murthy) 
Vaidehi (Janaki Srinivasa Murthy) one of the most significant and prolific writers of modern Kannada.  Being an author of 44 works Vaidehi’s creativity is multi-faceted. Starting as a serious writer of short stories during the early eighties she has written poetry, fiction, reminiscences, essays, children’s plays, children’s stories and translations – about 45 works in all to her credit. Her childrens’ plays have been staged successfully at Neenaasam, Heggodu, in Rangayana  (the Karnataka State repertory) directed by the great theatre stalwart  B.V. Karanth and others.
 
T S Nagaraj Shetty

T S Nagaraj Shetty was born on 16th April 1951, in Tiptur. He is a retired Kannada professor. His work towards Kannada literature for children is vast. He has written across genres including novels, poems and articles. Some of his books include Sankara, Doora Sarovara, Haavu Kappe Midi and Pranigala Jaatre. He has won several awards including a NCERT award for Chitti Putti, Karnataka Sahitya Academy award for Navilu Gari. His books have been translated into different languages including Hindi. Many of his books have been part of the textbooks including Gutuku Makkala Kavite. He served as a member of Karnataka Sahitya Academy from 1998 to 2001 and has served as a president in two to three sammelanas.
 
Adithi Rao
After a BA in Theater from Smith College, Massachusetts, Adithi worked as an assistant director on the Hindi film Satya. The rights to her film script, Baraf, have been bought by Aamir Khan Productions Ltd. Shabana, her second, was bought by Excel Entertainment.

Her adult fiction frequently appears in the print and online editions of Longshot Island, an American literary journal. Shakuntala and Other Timeless Tales of Ancient India (Puffin / Scholastic) is her first book. Growing Up in Pandupur (Young Zubaan / Scholastic), co-authored with her sister, is her second. Three stories from the Pandupur collection have been included in English school text books across India. Over the years, her short fiction has appeared in anthologies published by Zubaan, Puffin, Scholastic and Wisdom Tree.
 
Kiran Prasad Rajanahally
Kiran Prasad Rajanahally is a distinguished kannada writer who has authored more than 100 stories for children. She was awarded the prestigious award "Goruru prashasthi" in the year 2000 for her science fiction for children. One of her essay has been selected as a chapter for 2nd year B. Com studendts in Bangalore university. She has been selected as cultural ambassador from literature field and visited Texas, U. S. A as a GSE member, sponsored by Rotary international club.
