Nodar Dumbadze Professional State Youth Theatre (Georgia), Theater der jungen Welt Leipzig (Germany)

Splikifant – a blending of the Georgian and the German words for elephant – is a Georgian-German theatrical coproduction for very young children (2 years and up). It deals with the children’s world of sound in both countries and cultures. The focus is on how children in different countries learn to speak, which sounds are spoken first, what imaginary languages they create. Hand in hand with the linguistic acquisition goes the development of the children’s perception, especially regarding the senses of touch, taste, hearing and sight, which will play a central role in this production for the very young. The performance resulting from the collaboration will be premiered in Tbilisi and later in Leipzig.
