Would you like to have an unforgettable stay in Berlin?Berlin is colourful, cosmopolitan and always in tune with the times. Summer is an especially good time to discover the city when lots of things are happening outside: in the park, at the lake, on the Spree or in the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Whether it’s your first visit to Berlin or whether this is a repeat visit to Germany’s capital city, our cultural and leisure programme will enable you to get first-hand experience of Berlin.
City tours will help you get to know Berlin’s diverse neighbourhoods from a new perspective. What kind of people live in Berlin and what are the issues that concern them most? From fashion, to sustainability or street art: experience Berlin’s diversity locally. Berlin is more than a big city, it also has a lot to offer in terms of nature. Take part in our sport activities or relaxed excursions and discover the nature in and around Berlin. Visits to Berlin’s famous museums and world-famous sights are, of course, also part of any trip to the city.
In addition to the lessons, leisure activities offer you not only an opportunity to practice your German but also to get to know people at a café or games afternoon. On long summer evenings, Berlin comes alive to show its most exciting side: go with us to the open-air cinema, go to concerts or discover the best bars in the city.
Berlin, which regained its status as Germany's undivided capital in 1991, ranks among Europe's most-visited cities alongside London, Paris and Rome. The city's resurgence into a new era is physically documented by the many buildings designed by renowned international architects. More than 80 percent of the companies in Berlin are active in the services sector. Knowledge-based and high-tech industries are creating bright prospects for the future. Numerous media companies and publishing houses of national importance have located their headquarters here. Some 135,000 students are pursuing degrees at a total of 31 colleges and universities in Berlin. One-fifth of the city's economic output is generated by the creative and cultural sector – more than in any other German city.
I used to find learning German really difficult and I tried lots of different things. But on the language course at the Goethe-Institut, I suddenly started making rapid progress.
