A Martin and Hannah Norbert-Miller Trust PhD bursary is available at the Institute of Modern Languages Research (University of London) for October 2020 entry to graduates wishing to research on German-speaking exile, preferably in the UK. Relevant disciplines are: history, politics, sociology, migration, the arts.
The award provides a fee waiver of up to 100% of the Home/EU tuition fee, tenable for 3 years (F-T)or 5 years (P-T), plus maintenance. Projects based on the papers of the Anglo-Austrian Society, the writer/broadcaster Robert Lucas, or other archives of the Research Centre for German & Austrian Exile Studies at the IMLR, are welcome. A working knowledge of German is necessary.Candidates should hold an MA or equivalent; professional qualifications are also accepted.
