Grünes Diplom - Teach German at the Goethe-Institut

The Goethe-Instituts in the UK are looking for motivated candidates who are interested in becoming certified as an instructor of German as a foreign language (DaF – Deutsch als Fremdsprache). The Goethe-Institut is offering a continuing education program for this certification. The Grünes Diplom is the worldwide standardised qualification for German instructors at Goethe-Institut locations abroad.

St John’s College, Oxford
Lectureship in German

St John’s College, in cooperation with the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, invites applications for the 1.0 FTE fixed-term College Lectureship in Modern Languages (German). This appointment is available tenable from 1 October 2023 until 30 September 2024, to teach German to undergraduates and graduates. This is a temporary, fixed-term position and will therefore not be extended or renewed. Further particulars about the job can be found on the University's job website.

Teaching Associate in German Studies

Germanic Studies at Sheffield is looking for a Teaching Associate in German to join their team next year. If you’re committed to helping develop the study of German at University level, they’d love to hear from you. 

You’ll already have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in a relevant area of Germanic studies (or have equivalent experience), and you’ll be able to contribute to core aspects of our teaching programme in German literature and culture of the 19th – 21st centuries. You’ll have near-native or native command of German and a demonstrated record of high-quality teaching.

This is a fixed-term position for 12 months to cover a secondment.
