Esther Kinsky was born in 1956 in Engelskirchen, Germany, and grew up near Bonn. Since 1986, she has been working as literary translator from Polish, Russian and English. Between 1990 and 2004 she lived in London, then in Battonya, Hungary. Today, she lives in Berlin. After scattered poetry and short prose (english) in various magazines, her novel
Sommerfrische (i.e Summer Feeling, 2009) was her first independent publication. Two novels followed, as well as several volumes of poems, geopoetical narratives, a long essay about translation (
