Esther Kinsky

(born: 12.09.1956 in Engelskirchen), Author, Translator

After studying Slavic and English Literature in Bonn and Toronto, Esther Kinsky worked as a literary translator from Polish, English and Russian. She received several scholarships for her translations and was awarded the Paul Celan Prize and the Karl Dedecius Prize. In the late 1980s she published three children's books before publishing her first novel Sommerfrische in 2009. Her work as an author has also received numerous awards such as the Kranichsteiner Literature Prize, the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize and the Leipzig Book Fair 2018 Prize for Grove. Esther Kinsky lives in Berlin.
