Glocal Films is a London-based, not-for-profit film company. Their unique approach draws upon their experience in filmmaking, participatory video, anthropology, sociology and social work.

Their multilingual team has experience of working with vulnerable people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, abilities and age groups. They have been travelling around the world for more than a decade, facilitating community-based film projects in Latin America, the USA, sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, Central, South and Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

From December 2020 to February 2021, the Glocal Films team has organised several online film making workshops for students from India, Nepal and Bangladesh on the topic 'Perspectives? Equality.Human Rights.Democracy' and thus promoted an intensive exchange between school students from different countries on current issues in our society. They have empowered students to address these pressing issues through video formats.

During the event, under expert guidance, 16 students from Kolkata and Bokaro got together to learn more on the subjects of Equal Rights, Human Rights and Democracy. Afterwards, they were divided into gender-homogenous groups, where with the help of their smartphones they recorded films, conducted interviews, wrote and edited scripts, dictated the film narrative and planned production schedules and finally created three films.

An online film screening of these film productions will take place on 14.03.2021. Students will be able to put themselves in other perspectives and express and share their views on the issues focused in the films.
