A reflective, creative and expressive journey to reconnect and celebrate Friendships

Participation: Closed Group and Online Audience

The Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan is organising a social media project along with a series of workshops throughout the month of August to celebrate Friendship Day, that happens to be on the first Sunday of August.

This pandemic has resulted in the world becoming closer together and at the same time more isolated. Not being able to meet friends and family anymore has had a heavy toll on everyone, and it has become the new normal to fit in via online video conferencing platforms. Online multiplayer games and social media have become the main meeting and interaction points for friends, substituting face-to-face interactions. However, it is not the same and has played a big role in raising expectations in social circles.

Over the five weeks, participants will explore various topics related to friendship and learn how to better navigate and manage their feelings and friendships in today's world. Through reflective, expressive and creative activities, participants will not only engage with their own friendship dynamics, but also learn how to nurture friendship themselves and give back to the community at a time when kindness and compassion are needed.

Much of this project will revolve around social media. With the guidance of our experts, we hope to teach our young German learners skills to better manage their virtual friendships and, along the way, improve their German language skills.
