Our voices are one of the most important parts of our identities - in an analogue as well as digital world. It conveys information, emotions and reveals parts of our personality. The interplay of voice, body language, gestures and, of course, content determines the effect a person’s voice can have on others. With a lively voice, one can inspire, motivate and convince. This is the very quality that Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata would like to harness through its three-day workshop for German Language teachers, to be held from 12.08.21 to 14.08.21.
In this workshop, with the help of various theater-based techniques, the participants will get the chance to explore what it means to be a teacher and how to use their voices effectively to create an engaging presence in the language classroom.
Some of the things that they will be learning are:
- What are speaking tools?
- What is my own voice?
- How can I use my voice effectively?
- How can I reach my students well?
- How do I make an impact?
- What should I change for a lively lesson?
- How can I use theatrical means for teaching?
Kai Meister and Stefanie Siebers, experts from Germany, who are also part of the theater group “Die Mimosen”, will conduct the session. The multi-talented group has not only presented various theater performances internationally but also conducted workshops for young learners as well as for teachers.
