A certain verbal threat, “Khal khiche nebo”, insinuates peeling of the skin by flogging, shadowed by an entire history of acts of penalty that reaches deep into the memory of hierarchic violence.

The project ‘Pre Inflict Phase’ will explore this violence on skin itself – those that are torn from the bodies of animals. The leather itself signifies the literal actuation of the verbal threat but here scraps of leather would become an apt field of experience and expression.

In this project, the artist would like to draw the attention of the viewer with a video documentation of tanneries spaces, along with the natural leather hanging with arbitrary and uncontrolled stitching, where the arrangements of skin makes form of lands itself. Here the symbolic or allegoric metaphor of a skin could be a satiric example of socio-political observations of viewers.
On the other hand the display will include soft sculpture of leather, making the skin the protagonist of the universal land, which gives the hints of the world’s constant forceful map making process.

The exhibition will be opened on Monday, 10 February 2020 at 6:30 pm with an interactive and collaborative act with cobblers as well as the viewers, who will act as witnesses of the satirical condemnation. The artists will be present to introduce the project and facilitate the interactivity.
