An evening of music at the cafe

‘Returning Sound’ is a specially curated series of music programmes presented every month at the institute. The programme is curated focusing on experimental music written by independent electronic music producers.

The series is curated by Varun Desai.

2022 marks the return of public music events but few of them are meant to process what has happened to humanity over the last few years. ‘Returning Sound’ has been curated to restore a sense of community using electronic music to help reintegrate group listening, reflect on our collective experiences and navigate into an incalculable future.

The sixth programme of the series will feature Jivraj Singh and Printiig.

Jivraj Singh © Jivraj Singh Jivraj Singh is a percussionist, producer and visual artist from Kolkata. After an initial phase of collaborations in as many genres of music as possible, Singh's work has begun to show a tendency towards the conceptual. He is most at home when called upon to balance seemingly disparate forces, in the studio and on stage.

Printiig © Printiig Printiig is an agency for exploring angular, rhythm driven music. Initially born out of unfettered exploration of the open source virtual eurorack software VCVRack, the sound has evolved to take advantage of hardware based drum machines and synths with a strong focus on groove and sometimes, free flowing rhythms.
