A performance by Nilanjan Bhattacharya, Hardik Brata Biswas and Budhaditya Chattopadhyay

An evening of reading-performance, a duet, which found its initial lead from the exhibition A River and the World, the story of the Hooghly. It’s a synchronized recital of various pieces and passages from different fiction and non-fiction texts interspersed with static and moving images and sonic works–an invitation for the audience to reimagine a river and the lifescapes along its banks for over a century and a half.

Nilanjan is a filmmaker, artist and writer. He makes films and writes mainly on local biodiversity knowledge and indigenous food cultures in India and also Kolkata’s public cultures.

Hardik is trained in Comparative Literature and Women’s Studies. He is the creator of a digital archive of family photographs from Bengal. In 2019 he joined the School of Media, Communication and Culture, Jadavpur University, as a post-doctoral fellow, working towards photographic visual cultures, religiosity and gendered identities of communities in West Bengal.

Budhaditya is an artist, media practitioner, researcher, and writer. He holds a PhD in artistic research and sound studies from the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts, Leiden University. Budhaditya is the author of three books on sound cultures.
