About the artist

Lapdiang graduated from the National School of Drama, New Delhi, she has specialized in Physical Theatre from the Commedia School, Copenhagen, Denmark. Based in her hometown Shillong, she attempts to adapt Khasi folk narratives and dramatise them for a contemporary audience. Her theatre performances include “Ka Noh ka Likai” and “A being – human; being human human beings.”

She is currently working on Welsh-Khasi cultural dialogues with a team from the University of South Wales, funded by the Leverhulme Trust. She has acted in the film “That thing called the actor”, written and directed by Mita Vashisht and has trained khasi actors in the film “Iewduh”, directed by Pradip Kurbah. She has performed in Pakistan, China, Sweden and Estonia. She is also exploring poetry as a performance text. Co-founder of the artistic collective “The Unhinged Commune” based in Shillong.
