Culture and Conversation

This is a great opportunity for qualified nursing professionals as well as those still undergoing training. Germany is looking for qualified nurses and there is abundance of opportunities to live and work in all parts of the country. However to be considered for such an assignment, you must have a working knowledge of the German language.

Goethe-Institut now offers a special ten week course, German for Nursing Professionals. In this customized course nursing professionals will:
  • Learn basics of the language,
  • Learn everyday expressions and information about life in Germany.
  • Get an insight into the life and work of nursing professionals in Germany
  • Get an introduction to some the specialised terms and standard practices and procedures followed by German hospitals and nursing homes.

Course Objective

This course is the first in the series of programmes that will be offered by us to prepare you for a life as a nursing professional in Germany with just the right blend of language, culture, social norms and practices.

Miles and Smiles with Goethe - Nursing Professionals in Germany

The course consists of two phases

Phase 1
In this phase, which lasts approx. 7 weeks, the participants are initiated into the basics of the German language at the A1 level of the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages". The course is conducted in a very interactive manner, with a number of group activities, game based learning and practice exercises.

After the 7 week language training program, the participants will be totally immersed in learning about the culture of Germany along with intercultural sensitization. Here the focus will be on the difference in life and work ethics in Germany and India.  There will also be dedicated communication training with the goal of improving pronunciation, with the help of real life situations. This phase will be a 2 week intensive learning phase.
