(The Young Karl Marx)

Director: Raoul Peck, colour, 118 min., 2015-17

1843: 26-year-old Karl Marx is living in exile with his wife in Paris, where he meets Friedrich Engels, whose industrialist father runs a cotton mill in Manchester. The two young men become friends, start writing revolutionary texts together, seek out contact with the utopian workers' movement "League of the Just", and face resistance in France, Belgium and England – as well as from within their "own" ranks – as they struggle for nothing less than a new social order.
