Joining Online

Presently, we are only able to receive membership applications by mail, due to a technical transition. We will unveil the online membership application later this year in time for our 23rd Season. We thank you for your understanding and support.
 

MEMBERHIP VALIDITY POLICIES

If you register before the 2019 festival, your membership and its benefits are valid for the 2019 festival but will expire before the start of the 2020 festival. If you register after the Castro Theatre program of the 2019 festival, your membership and its benefits will be valid for 12 months from your registration date, including the 2020 festival.

Berlin & Beyond, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Why should I join the Berlin & Beyond membership program?

Berlin & Beyond is a film festival that benefits from the audience. As a nonprofit festival we rely on public support to bring the best of German-language cinema to San Francisco Bay Area audience and to present the cinematic works from a nation that rarely gets its work shown in this country. Over half of the films that screen at Berlin & Beyond may not have the opportunity to be screened again in the United States. With a membership, you are supporting a vital cause - and you can also enjoy various benefits during the festival along with year-round activities.

How do I join the Berlin & Beyond membership program?

Go to our website and click on “GET INVOLVED”. Under the section there is a link “BECOME A MEMBER”. You can also send in the filled-out form from our Berlin & Beyond Membership brochure. Our membership brochure is available at the Goethe-Institut San Francisco (530 Bush St.).

What are the benefits of membership? Where can I find them?

On our website and in our brochure you can find a detailed list of all membership benefits.

What are my payment options?

You can pay online via the links provided above with a major credit card or PayPal account, or you can send us a check by mail with the PDF application form provided above. Checks must be made payable to Berlin & Beyond, Inc.

Is there a membership discount for students? Senior citizens?

No, because our membership program offers a lot of discounts already.

Is my membership tax deductible?

Yes. Berlin & Beyond Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit cooperation. Contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. If you have any questions please talk to your tax consultant.

How long does it take for a membership to become active?

If you apply in person, you will get a receipt that serves as your temporary membership notice and your name will be added to the membership roster within 48 hours. If you apply by mail or email, you will get a confirmation email.

How long does it take to receive my membership card?

Up to three weeks.

How do I visit the Berlin & Beyond Film Festival events or the events at the Goethe-Institute before my card arrives?

Use your temporary membership notice. Your name will be already in our database. So, please bring also an official ID with you. (Your ID must not be expired.)

When does my membership expire?

If you register before the festival, your membership and its benefits are valid for the 2018 festival but will expire before the start of the 2019 festival. If you register on or after February 11, 2018, your membership and its benefits will be valid for 12 months from your registration date, including the 2019 festival.

How can I renew my membership?

Around one month prior to the expiration of your membership you will receive a renewal request letter. Please send the form in. You can also reapply in the same manner as you had applied.

Can I put more names than just my own on a membership?

No, each membership is personalized.

Can someone else use my membership card?

No, each membership is personalized.

Can I upgrade my membership level?

Yes, you can upgrade your membership level anytime. Please email the festival's director Sophoan Sorn.

Send us an email. There is a 5 USD membership replacement fee.

I’ve moved. How do I update my mailing address?
