In our 28th annual Film|Neu festival – and first entirely virtual edition of Film|Neu – we presented twelve films from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria: three German documentaries (Island of the Hungry Ghosts, Automotive, and Lovemobil), four German feature films (Fritzi – A Revolutionary Tale, Sealed Lips, Prélude, Narcissus and Goldmund, and Gipsy Queen), two Austrian feature films (Why Not You and Stroke of Luck), one Swiss feature film (Vagenda Stories), and one Swiss short film (Caught Out).
We are so delighted that, in spite of the challenges this year has brought, we have been able to bring these excellent films cost-free to our community. Thank you to everybody who streamed our offerings and supported our programming. Not only has your support of our streaming festival fostered great success for Film|Neu 2020 – but for Film|Neu overall, with nearly 4,000 views across the DC/MD/VA region and beyond.
The Goethe-Institut Washington is greatly thankful for its partners, the Austrian Cultural Forum Washington and the Embassy of Switzerland in the United States. Many thanks also to DC Shorts International Film Festival, German Films, German Documentaries, and the German Film Office in New York.
We look forward to presenting a hybrid festival in 2021, with streaming and in-person options alike.
Thank you all again for a wonderful Film|Neu, and we look forward to welcoming you to our 29th Film|Neu next year!
