This collection finds Ulrike Almut Sandig on her way to imaginary territories. The long journey to a magical fantastic south leads vertically down through the globe   and, not least, also intersects with »the right way to the common meeting point, to the middle of the world.
 
Originally published as Dickicht .Gedichte in 2011 by Schöffling & Co ,Frankfurt, Thick of it  the English translation by Karen Leeder* received an English PEN award and an American PEN/Heim award in 2016.

*Karen Leeder is a writer, translator and academic, and teaches German at New College, Oxford




THICK OF IT_ULRIKE ALMUT SANDIG © Goethe-Institut Chennai Ulrike Almut Sandig  has published two prose books, three pop music albums, radio pieces as well as four volumes of poetry. For her audiobooks, radio plays and speaking concerts, she  works closely with filmmakers, composers, musicians and sound artists. In 2018, she received the Wilhelm Lehmann Prize and Karen Leeder’s English translations of her poetry books Thick of it  and Grimm  were published.
