The Goethe-Institut Mumbai invites applications for the above full-time position, commencing on 1 November 2026 or thereafter.

The Goethe-Institut e.V. is an organization funded by the Federal Republic of Germany. Our goals are to promote knowledge of the German language abroad, to foster international cultural cooperation, and to convey a comprehensive picture of Germany through information about its cultural, social, and political life.

Tasks & Responsibilities         

IT Responsibilities
  • Serve as the local liaison between the institute and central IT support, including ticket management and escalation.
  • Provide first-level user support, troubleshooting daily IT issues, classroom technology, smart boards, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and shared PCs.
  • Manage user accounts, access rights, password resets, and user lifecycle administration using designated IT systems.
  • Promote IT security awareness and communicate relevant IT updates, policies, and security requirements to staff.
  • Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, network equipment, Wi-Fi connectivity, software updates, and system health.
  • Administer and troubleshoot network components (LAN, Wi-Fi, switches, access points) and coordinate issue resolution.
  • Install, configure, replace, and reimage end-user devices and peripherals, ensuring systems remain updated and operational.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory, document incidents, manage hardware lifecycle, and support procurement planning and budgeting.
  • Participate in IT knowledge-sharing forums, training sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Update and maintain institute website content and information.
  • Act as the first point of contact for practical and administrative inquiries related to the institute's social media presence, supporting content coordination and basic updates as required.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Manage disposal and documentation of obsolete equipment in accordance with organizational and compliance requirements (Aussonderung).
  • Support procurement processes, including obtaining and comparing supplier quotations.
  • Help maintain and file administrative records, reports, GST-related documentation.
  • Working and managing Zoho-based processes and travel reimbursements of employees (RKA).
  • Prepare minutes of staff meetings and maintain related records.

Job Requirements

  • Completed university degree
  • Very good language skills, also in writing, in German (B1), English, Hindi and Marathi
  • Sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365 environments, including user administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with computer hardware, software installation, maintenance, and technical support would be an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of network infrastructure, cybersecurity, data backup, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, endpoint management, and IT security best practices.
  • Basic knowledge of administration
  • Structured way of working and strong organizational skills with problem solving acumen.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a team

Note:

  • The position is limited until 31.12.2027 with an option of extension.
