Seed Stories Symposium - Day 3

Interaktive Erzählungen und Saatgutvielfalt

August 25th 2024 | IMDR Auditorium, Pune

On the final day, the spotlight turned to educational and artistic perspectives on conservation. Sunil Bhide of the Deccan Education Society led a presentation on the Fergusson College Botanical Garden, shedding light on its history, native plant species, and its broader mission of fostering environmental stewardship among students.

Participants were then treated to a soul-stirring poetry recital, ‘Kavitetil Vanaspati’, featuring works by Ketaki Ghate, Manasi Karandikar, and others. Each piece celebrated the profound relationship between people and plants, offering a poetic lens through which to appreciate nature’s bounty.

Rounding out the day was a mini-exhibition of wild seeds organised by Oikos for Ecological Services. This display spotlighted lesser-known wild seed varieties and emphasised how preserving these species is critical for maintaining ecological balance.

Thes sessions provided a fitting conclusion to the symposium, leaving participants with a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of nature, culture and conservation.
