Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Chennai, the official Cultural Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany is organizing an exclusive INDO-GERMAN VIOLIN TRIO music concert titled ‘CLASSICAL STRINGS – VIOLINKONZERT’ in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Madras East (RCME).
This is a unique music-project to explore innovative possibilities in cross-cultural collaboration of Indian and Western classical instrumental music.
 
The concept focuses on music that is universal and on artists who create varied genres and come from diverse backgrounds. Violin, the most versatile instrument in both Western and Indian classical music traditions was chosen as the basis of this music collaboration.

One of the most famous and internationally acclaimed expert Indian violinists, Ganesh-Kumaresh duo will be collaborating with award-winning German violinist and composer Florian Willeitner in an exclusive concert accompanied by Indian percussionists (Anantha R Krishnan on Mridangam and Krishnaswamy on Ghatam) on 01st November 2019 at The Music Academy, Chennai.

Ganesh & Kumaresh are a musical brand of a very unique caliber establishing their original sound and music in the Indian and International music scene. 
Their musical partnership of 47 years is studded with awards, accolades and achievements of the highest order.
Their musical ideas are original and deeply connected to the roots of the Carnatic system. Their approach to music is breathtakingly fresh and has a connect both to the musical wise-men and laymen alike.
They were initiated in to Music by their father and Guru Sri. TS Rajagopalan.

They have introduced a new form in to Carnatic music system, which they have fondly and appropriately named as Ragapravaham.
They have played an entire concert with the concept of Grahabedam - a first of its kind performance.
They have discovered and recreated many Ragas and introduced new Talas in to the Indian music system.
They have created a special curriculum for students to learn to play the Indian violin   in its pure and original form.

Music should reflect the spirit and character of the musician and the practitioner, this is the ethos of Indian music. This realization has inspired the brothers to make music their medium of expression of the innermost understanding of the sound of music and life itself in a larger perspective.

FLORIAN WILLEITNER

Florian Willeitner (*1991 in Passau) is an award-winning German violinist, composer and arranger and founder of the artistic collective Pool of Invention. He is a prize winner at the International Seifert Competition 2016, his works are performed at prestigious halls and festivals like Musikverein Vienna, Festspielhaus Salzburg, Berlin Philharmonie, Bachfest Stuttgart, ClassicalNEXT Rotterdam 2016, Beethovenfestival Bonn, Al Bustan Festival Beirut and have received great reviews worldwide (Downbeat Magazine, Stuttgarter Nachrichten, crescendo, London Jazz News).

He has composed music for famous orchestras and soloists such as Benjamin Schmid, Georg Breinschmid, Andreas Hofmeir or the Tonkünstlerorchester Vienna and is frequently performing with his various groups at classical and jazz festivals throughout the globe.
Florian has a keen interest in exploring the various world folk music and incorporating it in his own work both as a composer and a violinist. To achieve this, he travels a lot to encounter local people in their countries and learn from them (e.g. Ireland, France, USA, Cuba, Bulgaria and Brazil).
In November 2017 he received his Master’s degree (Classical Violin) with honors (Prof. Benjamin Schmid, University Mozarteum Salzburg).
 
Florian Willeitner is also working as an arranger for classical music, jazz, pop and folk. He has written inter alia, for the orchestras of the ‘MusikwerkstattJugendMünchene.V’, for the viennese bassist and composer Georg Breinschmid, for the Meckpom Festival and for various own projects.
 
As a composer Florian Willeitner is working in the classical E-Musik-sector as well as in Jazz, Jazzpop, World and Folk. His pieces have been premiered in some of Europes most prestigious halls and festivals such as the Wiener Musikverein, Festspielhaus Salzburg, Berlin Philharmonie, Herkulessaal Munich, Musikfest Stuttgart, MattseerDiabellisommer, Beethovenfest Bonn and many others.
