Denken auf Deutsch

Ingeborg Bachmann (1926–1973) is one of the most influential German-speaking authors of the 20th century, with many events commemorating the 50th anniversary of her death this year. Her poetry, novels, radio plays, and essays gave her an important voice in German literature after the second world war and her texts remain relevant today. Bachmann's various works create an internal dialogue that revolves around questions about an invisible power in the society and the search for an utopian place in literature.

Participants will receive a short overview of the state of literature in Germany after the second world war and explore the role played by Ingeborg Bachmann during this time. With the help of short texts, participants will discover the main themes of Bachmann's works and discuss their relevance for the questions we are facing today.
