Paul Hockenos has written about Germany and Central Europe since 1989. He has spent most of his adult life in Berlin. His work appears in Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs, New York Times, The Nation, Chronicle of Higher Education, and many other publications. He has held prize fellowships at the American Academy in Berlin, European Journalism College, German Marshall Fund of the United States, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is the author of three books on European politics and most recently Berlin Calling.
