The Goethe-Institut Boston sends nine German Game Designers to PAX East

The Goethe-Institut Boston, Cologne Game Lab and BIU – the German Games Industry Association — continue their cooperation to bring young German game designers to PAX East in Boston. After last year’s huge success, nine studios will get the chance in 2018 to present their games at one of the largest Games Festivals in the US. The following studios will participate – chosen by our jury to represent a cross section of Germany’s burgeoning gaming scene:

- rose-engine/signalis
- Stephan Hövelbrinks/Death Trash
- Osmotic Studios/Orwell: Ignorance is Strength
- Mad about Pandas/Hitchhiker
- The Cubinauts Team/Cubiverse
- Megagon Industries/Lonely Mountains: Downhill
- LeadFollow Games/Tiny Tanks
- Mooneye Studios/Lost Ember
- Ludopium/Isometric Epilepsy

About 60 German Studios and Designers applied for a grant to attend PAX East. The booth has room for nine. Not an easy choice for our jury.

Jury Thorsten Hamdorf (Director of Marketing, BIU, Sebastina Bulas (Founder, Art Director and Producer at Threaks), Björn Bartholdy (Director Cologne Games Lab) | © Jury „We wish all winners the best. Their games function as cultural ambassadors for the German gaming scene and we are happy to help them gain international recognition. We hope that the participants from Germany will establish contacts to the press and to local gamers, that they get feedback from players at PAX East and that they form a network among each other. I'm confident that the 2018 German booth repeats the success of last year’s successful launch”, says Christoph Mücher, director of the Goethe-Institut Boston and the initiator of the project.
The ongoing project “Transatlantic Gaming Summit”, supported by Germany’s Department of Foreign Affairs, and organized by the Goethe-Institut Boston, will again feature a German booth (number 20049) at PAX East. The Gaming Festival will be held at Boston’s Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) from April 5-8.
