Lowercase Brewing

Raise a glass to four incredible years of arts, culture, and partnership between the Northwest and Germany! Goethe Pop Up Seattle is closing its doors, but not without a party. Beer is culture, and at Goethe Pop Up, we believe that the best way to say auf Wiedersehen is Prost (cheers).

Join us at Lowercase Brewing in Georgetown to commemorate our last project: the release of Pilsnerist, a German-style Pilsner brewed by Lowercase's John Marti, and the unveiling of the winner of our Pilsnerist Dieter Rams Design Contest, whose Rams-inspired label design will grace the beer itself. Festivities will include a ceremonial keg-tapping, German-inspired food for purchase, giveaways, and music.

In addition to the beer itself, the Pilsnerist project brings Seattle and Germany together on the beer label as well. The label design, developed through an open workshop on legendary product designer Dieter Rams’ design principles, was selected in a juried competition. The winning label will be unveiled at the release party, and works from all design finalists will be displayed onsite.

Before the party, check out a class on Pilsner presented by Seattle Beer School, featuring tasters, insight into this brewing style, and an introduction to the 10 Principles of Good Beer, developed in conversation with Rams’ famous Principles for Good Design. The class takes place from 1 - 2 p.m. directly before the party. Tickets for the class ($25 including beer) are available via Bottleworks.

The release party will run from 2 – 5 p.m. and will kick off with a ceremonial keg-tapping by Honorary Consul of Germany Uli Fischer. Free admission, no-host food and bar.

Sincere thanks to Lowercase for hosting, and to Bottleworks and Seattle Beer School for their partnership!
