We celebrate Europe Day with an online stream of SHORT EXPORT: Short Films made in Germany.

May 9th is Europe Day, an annual celebration of peace and unity that marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration of 1950, considered the founding vision of the European Union. To celebrate, representatives of the EU organize a variety of activities all over the world. And as part of this year’s 70th anniversary, Goethe Pop Up Seattle, Goethe-Institut San Francisco, and Gray Area are proud to present the online stream of SHORT EXPORT.

Already in its 15th edition, SHORT EXPORT travels the world with a selection of current short films from Germany that tell stories of life in this country. The cooperation between AG Kurzfilm, German Films, the Goethe-Institut Lyon, the Short Film Agency Hamburg, and the International Short Film Festival Clermont-Ferrand, resulted in yet another striking program. SHORT EXPORT 2020 presents six films that illustrate the vast artistic and stylistic variety of Germany’s short film scene, ranging from bizarre and exciting to warm-hearted and hilarious stories, told as fiction, documentary, or animation.

Join us for the screening, meet some of the filmmakers from Germany and learn more about their work!
