Jazz from Germany and the U.S.

Goethe Pop Up Kansas City is proud to partner with The Blue Room Jazz Club in presenting the German-American jazz collective The Chicago Plan.

The Chicago Plan

Gebhard Ullmann – tenor saxophone, bass clarinet (Berlin)
Steve Swell – trombone (New York)
Fred Lonberg-Holm – cello and electronics (Chicago)
Michael Zerang – drums, percussion (Chicago)

Celebrating over ten years of collaborating together, Berlin saxophonist/composer, Gebhard Ullmann and NYC trombonist/composer Steve Swell join two of Chicago's finest improvising musicians, Fred Lonberg-Holm, cello/electronics and percussionist Michael Zerang for this new configuration. Building on the strength and ideals of these three cities, the quartet creates enough fireworks to light up the night sky with their brilliant sound imagery. Ullmann/Swell's appropriately named The Chicago Plan thoroughly breaks new ground for what Jazz and New Music ensembles' approach to creative music should be.
