Social Media and Public Relations

The Goethe-Institut San Francisco is seeking a Social Media and Public Relations Officer (24 hours/week) to start March 1st, 2024.

Overview:
The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. We convey a comprehensive picture of Germany through information on the cultural, social, and political life of our country. Our cultural and educational programs promote intercultural dialogue and make cultural participation possible. They strengthen the development of structures of civil society and facilitate worldwide mobility. 

The Goethe-Institut San Francisco is seeking a Public Relations and Communications Associate (24 hours/week) to start March 1st, 2024.

Responsibilities:

  • Social media concept and communication, community management 
  • Content communication on Goethe-Institut topics and projects on website and other online platforms/ electronic newsletter/ print products  
  • Guest relations for reception area/ guest lounge in new Goethe-Institut space  
  • Community management and outreach, liaison for guests and interns 
  • Press relations, cooperation with partners and influencers, marketing for events   
  • Design and editing of images & text    
  • Assistance for team organization (writing protocols, overviews) 
  • Administration of contact data bases (press, sponsors etc.) 

Requirements:
  • Professional experience in the field of social media and public relations 
  • Experience in CMS Contens Web Content Management  
  • Excellent written and oral language and communication skills in both English and German (confident and lively style) 
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, image and design tools) 
  • Very high social and intercultural competencies
  • Willingness to work 2-3days/ week in-person and occasionally evenings/weekends 
  • Teamplayer, pro-active, self-reliant
