Join us for a special guided tour of the exhibition Baselitz: Six Decades with the curator and with the Friends of the Goethe Institut (FoGI). This special tour of the exhibition will be led by the Hirshhorn Museum’s Chief Curator, Stéphane Aquin, and the president of FoGI, Dr. Marion Deshmukh, who will provide historical context for the work.

Georg Baselitz was born in 1938 and came of age in Communist East Germany. He is known for his neo-expressionist style and, since the 1970s, his characteristic upside-down paintings. The exhibit showcases Baselitz’ life work over the past sixty years in celebration of the artist’s 80th birthday. It is organized chronologically and will feature over 100 of Baselitz’ works, including some never before seen in the US.

As a special FoGI event, this tour will be free of charge for FoGI Members. Non-Members must pay a five-dollar entrance fee. If you are a FoGI Member, please send an email with your membership information to Joshua.Seale@goethe.de
