Join us for a special guided tour of the exhibition Lest We Forget with the artist and with the Friends of the Goethe Institut (FoGI). This special tour of the exhibition will be led by Toscano and the president of FoGI, Dr. Marion Deshmukh, who will provide historical context for the work.

As part of his project Lest We Forget (Gegen das Vergessen) German photographer Luigi Toscano spent a year traveling to meet with Holocaust survivors in Germany, the United States, Ukraine, Israel and Russia. He gave them the opportunity to share their personal stories – possibly for the last time. The result: more than 200 portrait photos – the heart of this project.

From April 10 to April 22, Toscano’s compelling portraits of Holocaust survivors will be exhibited on the National Mall near the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool. In addition to this photographic installation, these portraits are also the focal point of an illustrated book, an app, and a movie.

As a special FoGI event, this tour will be free of charge for FoGI Members. Non-Members must pay a five-dollar entrance fee. If you are a FoGI Member, please send an email with your membership information to Joshua.Seale@goethe.de
