Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

Experts from across art disciplines will come together for a conversation exploring intersecting themes of the body, music, and performance, inspired by This You, the first exclusively live work to enter the Museum's collection. This You, by acclaimed contemporary artist Tino Sehgal, features a solo female singer who connects with visitors to produce intimate and memorable experiences.

Mark Beasley, Hirshhorn Curator of Media and Performance Art, will lead a discussion on methods of staging the body and the historic use of music, from pop to avant-garde, by contemporary visual artists with panelists David Levine, visual artist and theater producer; Julia Simpson, trainer for This You performers; and Drew Daniel, member of the Baltimore-based musical duo Matmos.

Visit the Sculpture Garden prior to the event to encounter this living sculpture for a special extended viewing until 6:30 pm.

Stick around for post-program refreshments and a chance to meet the panelists.
