During the shooting of her film The Empress' Complaint
, Pina Bausch learns that the dancer playing the role of the victim in The Rite of Spring has fallen ill. Since the performance was scheduled for the following day, Pina Bausch immediately interrupted the filming to organize a special rehearsal and prepare Kyomi Ichida for the role. A few members of the film crew also go to the theatre. They take this opportunity to film the working session in progress. Step by step, gesture after gesture, Pina Bausch takes Kyomi Ichida from one stage to the next in this key scene of the work. The calm, the concentration that accompanies this rehearsal are exemplary. As for the beauty and originality of Pina Bausch's choreographic proposals, they are expressed with extraordinary strength.
