EU4Dialogue - Call for Artists in Residence

In the framework of the EU-funded project EU4Dialogue, Goethe-Institut Georgia invites photographers working on social issues to take part in a one-week residency in Tbilisi, Georgia.

About residency
Aim: The program aims to bring together talented photographers to experience a unique cultural environment and work on a project of their choice considering the theme.

Focus: The focus of the residency is on socially engaged art, with a particular focus on photography.

Title: New Horizons - Horizon as the furthest point visible, a framework to define oneself and the surroundings, an end point to knowledge and perspective. But also a meeting point for the most disparate, an ephemeral promise of boundless opportunities, a chance to reconsider so-called truths and challenge preconceived norms, to reshape the conversations and redefine the boundaries. Invited artists are encouraged to further explore the proposed themes and submit their interpretations on the topics.

What we offer
We invite artists to a one-week residency and offer them an environment for creative exchange and collaboration. We are planning intense week comprised of exploring the cultural scene in Tbilisi, as well as regional art scenes, working on individual projects, along with developing a group presentation.
During the Residency artists will spend one week in Tbilisi, Georgia, having the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in a creative process as well as share ideas and opinions with the other artists in residence, to be part of community of artists to further collaborate with and learn from.

The costs for the stay are covered by the Goethe-Institut Georgia: Travel expenses, accommodation, daily allowance.

Location
The residency will be hosted by the Writers’ House of Georgia. It is an open house of literature in the Georgian capital Tbilisi, in a historic Art Nouveau mansion on Machabeli street, Old Town. It was established in 2008 as a professional institute and a public space for readings, exhibitions and screenings, and has beautiful residency rooms and a garden café. To take a look, please click here.
