bangaloREsidency 2019: impREssions II

The six to seven weeks of the bangaloREsidency 2019 Season II have flown by. They were intense, filled with research on various topics, kilometres of exploratory tours in Bangalore and Kochi and delicate mini-work into the night - until they culminated in the state of the art final presentations by the artists.

Artist Lauryn Mannigel explores the aesthetic potential of body scent through performative olfactory experiments. Through her art pieces, she intends to question the stigmatisation of body scents while fostering awareness about the diversity of body scents and the olfactory judgments made about them.

 
There is always something supporting something in order for that something to become something. The question is: at what cost? Under which conditions? Reflections by Raisa Galofre and Marvin Systermans.

Yana Thönnes and Magdalena Emmerig, part of the German performance collective THE AGENCY, came to India as bangaloREsidents to explore surrogacy and Western spiritual tourism in India.

Jo Wanneng and Lukas Füttterer alias STRWÜÜ, who completed their bangaloREsidency at the Indian Sonic Research Organisation, give an insight into their time and work process in Bangalore.
 

Photographer Flo Maak deliberately chose Pepper House Kochi for his bangaloREsidency in order to study and document the sea and land from as close to nature as possible. With a few words and evocative images, he allows a brief insight into his experience and colourful everyday life in Bangalore and Kochi.

The artist Nadin Reschke works with textiles, recognises, reads and interacts with her surroundings, the city and fellow citizens through textiles of all kinds.

After the long wait, the time had finally come: Slightly sleepy, but still very lively, the artists of the bangaloREsidency 2019 Season II emerged from the airport at 3.00 a.m. on October 20th.
