If you have already learned German on your own or in a course with another provider, or if your German course or exam at the Goethe-Institut was more than six months ago, you must take a assessment test.

The level assessment test helps us suggest the right course level for you. It assesses your reading and listening comprehension as well as your writing skills. Based on the results, you will receive a course level recommendation. Therefore, please take the test independently and without any aids to ensure the result accurately reflects your level.

The level assessment test is free of charge. You will receive a link and have 14 days to complete the test.

For all the level assessment tests completed by Thursday at 8 PM, the course level recommendation will be sent via email by Friday at 6 PM. The result is valid for six months.
