Don Quixote, Op. 35 is a tone poem by Richard Strauss for cello, viola, and orchestra. Subtitled Fantastic Variations on a Theme of Knightly Character, the work is based on the novel Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. Concluding the concert is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, op. 55, Eroica. One of the composer's most celebrated works, the Eroica symphony is a large-scale composition that marked the beginning of Beethoven's creative middle-period.
