On the occasion of From Berlin to LA, Second Edition, this afternoon of learning, exchange and musical inspiration in partnership with Native Instruments and the Goethe Institut offers three workshops and a free-style live improvisation using Link technology. Workshops hosted by Native Instruments with Anna Cavazos, Autist, Brian Kullas, Carlos Oblivion, Caroline Campbell, Katie Otro and others.

These workshops address young DJs and producers (ages 16+) who want to hone their skills

1.30 PM: Meet MASCHINE JAM with Brian Kullas (LA, Native Instruments)
MASCHINE JAM is the modern digital instrument - the shortest avenue from inspiration to reality. Learn from Lead US Product Specialist Brian Kullas on how to start musical ideas and finish entire tracks from one unified system. Whether you are an existing MASCHINE or KOMPLETE user, or are just getting into music production, this inspirational workshop will offer a complete overview of MASCHINE JAM and its integration into the Native Instruments family.
 
3 PM: Use MASCHINE STUDIO like Autist (Berlin)
Learn to use MASCHINE STUDIO controller, MASCHINE sequencer, MASCHINE/KOMPLETE sounds/FX and user libraries as an inspirational tool for writing and producing. Autist will share their tips on MASCHINE and personal library browsing, KOMPLETE synths, sound design FX, sampling and pattern arrangements.
 
4.30 PM: Start DJing on TRAKTOR now with Katie Otro (Berlin/LA)
This intensive hands-on workshop focuses on making you an expert at using TRAKTOR SCRATCH DJ software. You will learn how to use various TRAKTOR set-ups from the external interface Audio 10 to stand alone units such as KONTROL S4 and KONTROL Z1. Learn insider tips and tricks on how to DJ digitally and loop effortlessly.

6 PM: Live improv'
See what happens when several musicians play together for the first time using Link technology... featuring Anna Cavazos on vocals, Autist on MASCHINE STUDIO, Brain Kullas on MASCHINE JAM, Carlos Oblivion on MASCHINE STUDIO, Caroline Campbell on the harp, and Katie Otro on TRAKTOR.


ABOUT THE PARTICIPANTS:

Katie Otro: DJ/producer Katie Otro operates between LA, Berlin, NYC and Ibiza; influences from all these places are found in her deep, acid, or ambient techno productions. Acid House godfather DJ Pierre will release her next EP in March.
 
Autist: the duo, or trio when playing with a drummer, blends epic synth and guitar, noise pop rock and teen angst lyrics for a loud and hypnotic live result. These Berlin rock and alternative fashion scene darlings are behind the brand Tata Christiane and are founding members of Autist (ex Aniaetleprogrammeur).
 
Anna Cavazos: (NYC/LA/Berlin) Producer, DJ, vocalist. Living between LA and Berlin, Anna has a slew of releases on Kerri Chandler's Madhouse Records, Nitegrooves, King St Sounds, and forthcoming EPs on Yes Yes Records and What Happens.
 
Carlos Oblivion: (Detroit/Berlin/LA): Originally from Detroit, gone through Berlin, LA-based Carlos Oblivion is a computer programmer and producer of experimental sounds.
 
Caroline Campbell: Classically trained harpist Campbell specializes in using the harp for therapy purposes. Recently she joined an ambient trio, Cortex Accelera, and started collaborating with several LA artists recording techno tracks.
