About the Residency

Together with Musicboard Berlin, Nusasonic will grant a two-month residency to one Singapore-based musician, who should work virtually and in tandem with an artist based in Berlin. Nusasonic is a joint project between Playfreely/BlackKaji (Singapore), Yes No Klub (Yogyakarta), WSK Festival for the Recently Possible (Manila), CTM Festival (Berlin) and Goethe-Institut that aims to foster dialogue between musicians within Southeast Asia with connections to Europe and beyond.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the 2021 residency will take place as a virtual tandem residency supporting a collaborative digital project between a Berlin-based artist:in and a Singapore-based artist:in. The aim of the residency is to identify common and complementary interests between the two artists that can serve as a springboard for the development of a joint artistic work to be presented at the end of the residency.

  • Musicians who move between experimental pop, club music, sound art, noise, improvisation or intermedia performance.
  • Musicians who work or are currently developing work at the intersection of film, video, games, interactive media, programming or installation, and musicians who use research-based practices.
