Dr. Christine Litz
Art historian

Christine Litz is an art historian. She studied Art History, German Language and Literature, and Education in Cologne and Bochum, where she completed her Ph.D. on "Textuality in the Visual Arts" in 2002.
 
Immediately prior to her engagement in Freiburg, she worked from 2009 to 2012 as project manager at dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel, and realised projects of Amar Kanwar, Nalini Malani, Omer Fast, Albert Serra, Javier Tellez, Shinro Ohtake and Anri Sala among many others.
 
From 2007 to 2009 she was a visual arts expert in the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony. She became internationally known as the project manager of sculpture projects münster 07, where she worked from 2005 to 2007 and realised projects of artists including Thomas Schütte, Clemens von Wedemeyer, Rosemarie Trockel, Annette Wehrmann and Mike Kelley. At the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and Museum Ludwig, Cologne, Litz was responsible for a weekly film- and lecture series from 1999 to 2000, and from 2000 to 2005 she was assistant to Director Kasper König at the Museum Ludwig. For the Museum Ludwig she curated exhibitions with Bruce Nauman and Mauricio Cattelan, amongst others. She initiated the "film-bar" together with Peter Allmann and developed the educational programs "Art: Dialogues" and "Young Night."
