Vocational Training Positions with APAL

In the training partnership programm with Asia and Latin America APAL (Ausbildungspartnerschaften mit Asien und Lateinamerika), the Goethe-Institut cooperates with the German Federal Employment Agency and prepares young German learners for a vocational training in Germany in terms of language and intercultural skills. Potential applicants are addressed through regional partners of the Goethe-Institut.

What does the APAL project offer?

  • Yearly new positions for Dual Vocational Training in Germany (duration between 2 to 3.5 years)
  • During the vocational training a contractually warranted monthly training salary of at least 1048 € (before taxes)
  • Participation in German language courses and intercultural offers of the Goethe-Institut in India to prepare for Germany
  • Support in the visa application and the move to Germany
  • In Germany: move-in ready housing (prepared by the training company), initial aid for apartment setup etc., first month's rent paid for by training company
  • Additionally: one-time round-trip to India during the vocational training (paid for by training company)

Which professions are offered?

What are the requirements?

  • You are between 18 and 22 years old, when starting the vocational training.
  • You are currently a student of a (governmental) partner school of the Goethe-Institut, or you completed school in the last three years.
  • You have not completed any university course or vocational training so far.
  • You already possess basic skills in German (at least A1), you are motivated to keep learning German and you have an interest in the German culture.
  • You are interested in the offered vocational training professions and even after completing your training you want to work in the profession and live in Germany for several years.

How does the APAL project work?

In India

1. Information events for students and alumni take place at the participating schools. Available vocational training positions, current application deadlines, and required application documents will be announced here.

2. If you fulfil the requirements (see above), you can apply through the program for the vocational training positions offered by companies.

3. After successful application: You learn German at the Goethe-Institut in India - at least up to the B1 level.

4. You organise your documents and register for the visa process - all this with support by the Goethe-Institut and the German Federal Employment Agency.

Transition from India to Germany

5. After passing the B1 language exam and receiving the visa: You travel to Germany.

In Germany

6. You begin your vocational training in Germany.

7. You further learn German up to the B2 level.
