TestAS (Test for Academic Studies) is a centralised, standardised scholastic aptitude test. It assesses cognitive abilities that are particularly important for university studies. TestAS is designed for prospective students who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree at a German university.
TestAS was developed on behalf of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) by ITB Consulting, Bonn, and the TestDaF-Institut, Hagen. The development was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
What are the advantages of TestAS?
-
The university can select students who have the necessary prerequisites for the academic programme offered.
-
Participants get to know the typical requirements of the academic programme they are aiming for.
-
With the test result, prospective students can realistically assess whether they can successfully complete a degree at a German university.
You can find out which institutions take TestAS into account when admitting foreign students on the universities' websites. Please refer to these or to the international offices for specific information on the admission requirements for your chosen academic programme.
Please note: Registration and payment of fees are only possible directly through the TestAS website.
