In the summer of 1990 and based on a true story, director Natja Brunckhorst chooses to create an easy-going comedy about the GDR - after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, but before the official reunification with the FRG. The film explores whether the East German consciousness has already changed, what inventive spirit capitalism awakens, and how a few neighbors use the still confused situation for personal gain. This is told through a rather amusing robber story. Political side blows are certainly included, delivered accurately by a star-studded cast of German actors who clearly enjoy their work.
