Rose and her older brother Sam share a close bond. When Sam is accused of rape, Rose is asked to testify against him as part of the investigation. This puts both their relationship and Rose’s moral integrity to the test.

In Schwesterherz, director Sarah Miro Fischer explores an intimate sibling relationship. She examines how closeness to another person can distort one’s perception of reality, and what kinds of events have the power to destroy even the strongest bonds. In her work with the actors, she places particular emphasis on physical expression, allowing stories to be told beyond the spoken word.

SARAH MIRO FISCHER

Sarah Miro Fischer is a Berlin-based director and screenwriter. After beginning her film studies in Bogotá, she transferred to the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB), graduating in 2024. Her short films have screened internationally, with Spit receiving a Special Mention at the Imagine This Women’s International Film Festival in New York (2022).
Her debut feature Schwesterherz premiered in Panorama at the 75th Berlinale in 2025, after winning the WIP Europa and Industry Awards at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. Her films are marked by an intimate closeness to their characters—complex, alive, and deeply human.
