On Ground

About the project

On Ground is a photo-series that highlights the challenges faced by grassroots seed banks in conserving native seeds—critical for biodiversity and food security. Seed banks play a crucial role in preserving plant genetic resources, yet many communities remain unaware of their significance, leading to the neglect and loss of valuable seed varieties. Limited storage facilities, lack of resources, and weak networking further hinder conservation efforts. Engaging local communities in seed collection, storage, and distribution is essential. By documenting insights from elders and experienced farmers, this project emphasizes the need for education, collaboration, and sustainable solutions to protect native seeds for future generations.
