23rd Pune International Film Festival X Goethe–Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Michael Kalb Filmproduktion

The Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan will participate in this year’s Pune International Film Festival with an exciting selection of German films. The festival will take place from February 13 to 20, 2025.
This year, the following German films will be screened:

Riefenstahl | 2024 | 115 minutes | Germany | Directed by: Andres Veiel
Riefenstahl deals with the controversial legacy of Leni Riefenstahl, a filmmaker who was both celebrated and sharply criticized for her role in Nazi propaganda. The film uses a 2002 interview and access to Riefenstahl’s archives to question the difficult boundary between artistic ambition and moral responsibility.
DYING | 2024 | 180 minutes | Germany | Directed by: Matthias Glasner
Dying is a profound exploration of life and death, told in five moving chapters: birth, love, family, life, and death. The film highlights how people cope with loss, appreciate fleeting moments, and redefine their relationships in new ways.
SHAHID | 2024 | 84 minutes | Germany | Directed by: Narges Kalhor
In Narges Kalhor’s surreal comedy, the plan to remove "Shahid" from her name leads to a conflict with the spirit of her deceased great-grandfather and German bureaucracy, sending her on an absurd journey of identity and heritage.
IVO | 2024 | 109 minutes | Germany | Directed by: Eva Trobisch
IVO tells the story of a palliative care nurse who, through her close relationship with an ALS patient and his husband, is confronted with questions about life, love, and the ethical aspects of euthanasia.
