Fête de la Musique

In collaboration with the Alliance Francaise de Pune, Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan Pune will celebrate International Music Day this year as well.

The Fête de la Musique, or International Music Day, was first celebrated in Paris in 1982 and has since become an annual tradition throughout France. The concept of bringing people together to make and enjoy music was so well-received that the celebration has now spread across the globe. On this day, both amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform in streets, bars, cafés, and public spaces. The slogan Faites de la musique (Make music), a homophone of Fête de la Musique, is used to promote this goal. Many free concerts are organized, making all genres of music accessible to the public.

Following this tradition, there will be a Fête de la Musique celebration at the Anti-Social Club (Fergusson Road) on 22nd June 2025, featuring various musicians covering all genres, before ending the evening with a performance by French singer-songwriter David Walters, who blends soul and tropical sounds.
