Arka Kinari

Performance & Workshops|Panjim, Goa

Arka (Latin) means a vessel, from arcere, meaning “to hold off or defend” and Kinari (Sanskrit) refers a half-human, half-bird musician, guardian of the tree of life. Arka Kinari is a sailing ship turned floating cultural platform by the artists Grey Filastine and Nova Ruth. By day, the ship hosts workshops on environmental sustainability and conversations with local communities. By night, the ship transforms into a stage for a performance by Filastine and Nova, using music to sound the alarm for climate change and cinematic visuals to imagine life beyond fossil-capitalism.

The cultural ship was launched in 2019 with a voyage across the Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific. Arka Kinari sets sail across the Indian Ocean and will be in Panjim, Goa from 21st February to 28th February 2026 offering screening, talks, listening session, and guided ship visits.
Dhanya Pilo is the Curator and Project Manager of Arka Kinari in Goa.
