Projects ©Goethe-Institut Myanmar Collaboration Project Myanmar Photo Archive The Myanmar Photo Archive and Goethe-Institut Myanmar are pleased to announce a collaboration to extend, enforce and build a wider understanding of Myanmar's visual history. The Goethe-Institut Myanmar has generously reinforced the Myanmar Photo Archive to build a richer visual archive of Myanmar's history with a special two-year grant. ©Zun Ei Htet / Goethe-Institut Myanmar /SHI EXHIBITION /Shi is an art exhibition in the city of Yangon, Myanmar. /Shi is on for 44 days from 12 November 2022 to 12 January 2023. The idea of the Program of Care was formed during a series of conversations with partners and experts from the artistic, cultural, and psychological fields where pressing topics and anticipations in need of support were voiced, listened to, and formulated. ©Goethe-Institut Myanmar Knowledge Through Entertainment SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL 2022 Goethe-Institut Myanmar is organizing the 11th Edition of the Science Film Festival in Myanmar. There was no such thing as an art school or a music school. Even today, we struggle to find a proper school for guitar. Harp The Myanmar Harp, called Saung Gauk in Burmese, is regarded as a national musical instrument of Myanmar. The black and vermilion body of the instrument is covered with gold leaf, and the tip of the instrument is decorated in boyan-leaf-shape. The Saung Gauk, which is so visually inspiring is commonly referred to as the "King of Musical Instruments" in Myanmar. Past Projects ©Goethe-Institut February 18 - March 31, 2022 KINOFEST German Film Festival 2022: KINOFEST is the first German Film Festival organized by 8 Goethe Characters in Southeast Asia. The film festival was held online on the Goethe-On-Demand online film platform. The 12 films are shown online throughout the entire Southeast Asia region and are translated into 5 languages: English, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Burmese. ©Link the Wor(l)ds Literary translation workshops LINK THE WOR(L)DS For new generations of translators, to achieve good translation with international standards, this workshop was organized in collaboration with Singapore Book Council, National Centre for Writing, the world's largest book festival Frankfurt Book Fair and Goethe-Institut Myanmar. Afterwards it travelled to Germany and Bangkok, then to Yangon. Top
