inter-spatia is a new spatial music work developed collaboratively between Borealis – a festival for experimental music in Bergen, Norway, and MaerzMusic -  Festival for Time Issues in Berlin, Germany. Based on a collaborative commission to Berlin composer Catherine Lamb for a long form microtonal work, this project brings together a group of musicians from Germany, Norway and the US, who have specific skillsets in instrument building, microtonal composition and performance practice to take her musical ideas, and realise them through workshop and residency, culminating in site-specific performances in Bergen and Berlin in March 2022. Borealis and MaerzMusik have a long history learning from each other and sharing ideas and values, and this project is an extension of musical and philosophical interests and a collaborative format to enable new, ground breaking sound work to exist.
