Salomé Jashi, Indigo Fund, South Caucasus Contemporary Dance and Experimental Art Festival in Tbilisi (Georgia) und Takako Suzuki (Germany)

The project brings together Georgian and German artists to create an experimental Dance Performance, a reflection upon the body and sexuality in Georgia. The performance uses patterns of Georgian Art of 20th century modernism including painting, costume design, dance and music to explore and reflect upon these elements. The performance also integrates elements of Georgian mythology and fairy tales, as they become part of the soundscape and working material for the choreography. The performance is directed and choreographed by Takako Suzuki, originally from Japan and living in Berlin for 20 years, being part of Sasha Waltz & Guests as dancer and choreographer. During this project, Suzuki works with dancers of Georgia’s most acclaimed Sukhishvili National Ballet & Rustavi Dance Company, specialized in folk dance. The German composer Matthias Müller will compose, together with local experts in traditional music, an original sound track for the performance, using elements of traditional music, field recordings, interviews and experimental music.
